Great Wolf Lodge / Eric’s 40th

Girls, marry the man who when asked how he wants to celebrate HIS big 40th birthday answers with what his child would most enjoy. I swear he is just the sweetest.

We took Ellie to Great Wolf Lodge, LaGrange when I was pregnant with Elias in December’21 for a baby moon for Ellie - a time to spend together before bringing another one into the family. And she FELL IN LOVE.

So when it was time to plan the big 4-0 for our precious man of the house, Eric asked Ellie what she thought he should do - and without missing a beat, “Great Wolf Lodge!” She exclaimed.

Eric booked a few nights there and his parents came too. Elias enjoyed splashing in the water and we all enjoyed the water slides and family time laughing, celebrating, and good food.

For his birthday, GWL gave Eric a cake, balloons, decorated the door, and gave points to use in the arcade. It’s so fun to celebrate Birthdays in our family and especially for this guy who gives us his all, all day, every day with a big ole smile on his face. So much so that even his birthday was intended to bring joy to his daughter. I love him. I love him so dang much.

And at home on his birthday we celebrated! We had so much fun decorating the house with all the “over the hill” things, streamers, caution tape, balloons, just all the things. I let Ellie be in charge of the cake. She chose to make Eric a funfetti cake with pink icing and pink sprinkles. 😂 We put 40 candles on it + a 40 and that cake was hot dang it! Eric burned his dang finger twice trying to light that fire hazard! 😂😅 The kids made him cards. We made him a spaghetti dinner and made sure we got all the dishes done for him because usually he does that for me! We love him so much and so honored to be the ones who celebrate him all of his life!

Elias - 5 months

5 months?! How did that happen?! This little boy is just so cool and such an immense joy to us.

Elias measures 98% for height and 95% for weight. Eric has so deemed him with the nickname, “pork chop.” The little ham eats and eats and eats. Now that he sits up tall and strong, he has spent the last month enjoying various foods. He eats a yogurt a day, baby oatmeal, bananas, and most recently at the beach he ate our entire order of guacamole 😅😂. He also loves queso, and tomato sauce - actually - I don’t think there is anything yet he doesn’t love??

He sits, he rolls over, he kicks a lot, and he turns himself around and moves off his mat at tummy time with his arms and scoots with his feet.

He babbles to try and talk a lot and his doctor said he is advanced both on physical and verbal development which makes me one proud mama, I gotta say.

He still is an amazing sleeper too. He is very funny and makes the best facial expressions. He is a chill guy like daddy. He goes with the flow and really he is happy so long as you feed him and let him sleep. He is a calm and patient little man.

Elias has traveled a lot in his 5 months. He took his first week Long Beach trip with the family to Ocean Lakes, our annual beach trip. It was pretty awesome to hold him on the beach while he napped and reminisce on last year when I sat in the same spot and intensely out of nowhere by the call of God had a massive change of heart and NEEDED to have one more baby and so we got to it and here he is - laying in my arms on the very beach. Amazing. This whole little smiley happy precious baby boy is here and bringing constant joy.

Happy 5 months, Elias! We love you baby boy! So so much!
