I've been wanting to go so bad to see the Ark + the Creation Museum and Eric granted my wish and made it one of our stops on our journey north!
Walking up to the Ark on a RAINY day nonetheless was so awesome...and it's only a replica based on biblical proportions! Could you imagine even at all what work Noah and his family put into the ark and how the non-believers of what was to come must have felt seeing this thing...both before and in the midst of the flood when they realized..oh wow, this is really happening - a global flood! I actually got Holy spirit tears and chills walking up into the ark.
They continually made it clear that everything they present is based on the Bible and that alone. Though they admit they took artistic liberties such as granting the wives in Noah's family of himself and his sons, names, which are not provided in scripture. They know that. We know that. They make it VERY clear that the names are merely as to be able to specifically refer to the individual of whom they are speaking about. They also make it clear that they do not know specifically how the interior of the ark would have specifically been set up, so there is artistic interpretation there as well, but the creating of the ark itself, the biblical documentation, biblical explanations, etc. all totally theologically sound and good. I'm thoroughly impressed.
We enjoyed walking the ark, reading, listening, exploring, interacting, and also visiting the zoo on site. We ate lunch there, then headed out for 45 mins up the road to the Creation Museum which was created by the same people. It was beautiful. The gardens were exquisite, the playground so fun, the exhibits astounding, remarkable, and thorough. I teared up many a time. I also gave Eric quite the laugh. There was one exhibit with the "Tree of Life" and Adam and Eve and the serpent...but the first thing I saw was this canopying tree and its beauty and I was walking and looking upwards towards it and I exclaimed aloud to Eric, "Oh look how beautiful this tree is! It even has little fruits!" And Eric was like, "Yeah! It's the tree of life!" (Like duh, fool!) 😂😂😂 I said, "wait, what? Is it?" And there right in front of me, a placquered reading, "The Tree of Life." I was like, Oh shoot! I'd have been as bad as Eve! Dang! It was a bit of a laugh. But also it proved that a man can make a plastic (or whatever it was) tree look enticing, how much more beautiful was this tree of life that God Himself created? Of course it was beautiful and desirable. And our free will God gave us which is such a loving and gracious gift, gave foothold that Eve made a choice against God and His commands and opened the pit that all men will indeed die and a perfect peaceful life is impossible on earth, and we are separated from God now unless filled with the Holy Spirit and knowing that Jesus was the way through which God created us redemption and a chance in His perfect presence. Jesus' perfect sinless life being sacrificed paid the price of what sin we have done and will do and it is just so beautiful! And if baptized in the Holy Spirit, we are still sinners, but the Holy Spirit awakens our souls to that sin and we feel conviction and seek to glorify God and be more like Him, Whose image He made us in.
We enjoyed a viewing in the planetarium and the amazing creations of God that are just so BEYOND and my favorite part was seeing the small but most beautiful exhibit of the creation and progression of life in a mother's womb. Oh how beautiful that God knits us in our mother's womb and we are in a secret place that only He knows for a time. Children are a gift from God. And the baby in the womb knows their creator God. This is all scripturally factual. Do you realize, that precious LIFE has been CREATED by GOD and for a couple to few weeks, ONLY GOD can know that baby is within the mother...that that LIFE exists and is VALUABLE because GOD CREATED THAT LIFE with a PURPOSE. So beautiful. I cried. I stood there and cried. I felt the Holy Spirit in that one small exhibit hall.
Honestly, there is just way more there to explore than I could ever type. If you do both the Ark and Creation Museum, start at opening hour because if you are like me and want to do and see and read it all and truly absorb it, you need the entire day! It's fascinating. What a blessing! Go!
