Week 32 Homeschool Preschool

A very short week due to personal family need in Michigan where Eric and I were most of the week. That is another reason to love homeschool - flexibility!! But, when we returned, we got into a few small things from our various curriculums.

For forest school study, we discussed and observed and identified wildflowers. I LOVE wildflower study!! So many wildflowers are edible and medicinal and we love to bake with them or make tea for poetry and tea time. We went on a nature walk with friends, read a book, and played hard in the dirt!

Ellie wanted to play teacher again this week. She taught me all about plants and some math too! I love this! It is a time I get to listen to her speak and as she "teaches" she is recounting all I have poured into her and it is awesome to hear the things she learned and now wants to teach me back!

We went to our beloved farm, Happy Cow Creamery for compost to work in the garden. Sleepy little girl always has a blast there and she got plum worn out and fell asleep in the car! So cute!

On one of our walks this week, Ellie and I sadly but amazingly came across a young turtle that died as it crossed the road...with no other obvious signs of trauma and based on the temperature of the day and the black tarmac, we made the assumption the little turtle was not fast enough in crossing the road before basically baking to death. However; sad as it is to encounter a dead turtle, we got to examine the shell, feet, claws, colors, etc. A good science moment.

Our caterpillars have formed their cocoons! SO EXCITING!! Ellie drew her observations in her journal.

We worked more in the garden, one of the most awesome things you can get your child involved in by the way, and Ellie really helped me in getting all of our gardening necessities and in helping me turn the soil, plant the seedlings we started indoors months ago, place tomato cages, and an endless amount more of help. She loves to help! She loves to work hard and be proud of her work. She is diligent, conscientious, and an excellent problem solver. I genuinely value and love her help in the garden!

Ellie got a new fern for her school room!

Here are the books we read this week:

Heart Surgery - Update 2

Time truly is an odd thing. Our time on Earth is short, even if we manage to live 100+ years. We can hardly fathom eternity and the length...
