Coker Springs Trail - Hitchcock Woods - Aiken

I love Hitchcock Woods in Aiken, SC. A vast forest land full of countless trails for horses and walkers.

Yesterday, we did the Coker Springs Trail. An easy 1.3 out and back trail. The terrain is sandy.

What we loved about this one was the amount of wild flowers and green canopy. We foraged hundreds as Ellie would tell you, of violets. We are going to make violet jam soon and our bread and butter for our afternoon tea and poetry. We love spring hikes for the wildflower foraging and this trail had us flittering with enthusiasm!

The best part of all, however, was noticing a cut near the foot bridge shown in my photos, down to a small valley for the water to trail down over rocks. What a quiet and secluded place for a pic-nic, exploring, and climbing! We hung out here until it was time to go back to the car. Ellie swung on vines like Jane Goodall and Elias tried to nail down his rock climbing skills.

Check it out! This will be a great summer splash spot with my kiddos!
