Ellie's Easter

I wrote a good bit in Ellie's 8 month blog about her Easter activities leading up to Easter. But I also wanted to document her actual Easter holiday!

I was so thankful to be able to share truth of Life with Ellie. To explain why we celebrate Easter. To explain love greater than Mommy's and Daddy's to her. Praising Jesus with Ellie is such an incredible way to grow in the Lord and truly realize Hid goodness in ALL things and in ALL times!

Eric and I combined our traditions for Easter when we first started dating. It was so fun to share these with Ellie for her first Easter! The Easter Bunny came to our rental and hid many eggs for Ellie, Mommy, and Daddy! He also filled everyone a basket full of goodies and hid them. On Easter morning, Ellie woke up and came downstairs with Daddy to start the hunt of her eggs and basket! She immediately found a few eggs, but got caught up on teething on one. Once she got going again, it was not long before she discovered an egg, AND her basket behind the couch!!

The Easter Bunny left Ellie bubbles, race cars, princess dress up accessories, books, and a stuffed rabbit she has named, "Ah-choo." Seriously. It's what she keeps calling him. The sweetest thing she did was to see the bunny and kiss him sweetly on his little nose.

We went to our church, Mt. Airy Baptist Church and Ellie's Mimi and G-Daddy joined. They have gotten to be with each of their grandbabies at church for their first Easter. Ellie, who does not go to nursery at this time because of her nap/food schedule and a Type A mommy with a good case of "First Time Mom Syndrome", danced, and drank a bottle through worship in Mimi's arms. Then, Keith started preaching and Ellie was not in the mood to sit down. So I took her upstairs in the LC to crawl around and I was still able to listen.
** Can I just take a second to mention how thankful I am to be part of a church family that loves my family and allows me to do this with Ellie even though there is a perfectly good nursery provided? She ate a muffin in the middle of service the week before and I sat on the floor while she picked it apart in my hand. I love my church family and that we can be real people living real lives and dealing with our children in a way that brings us as parents peace of mind while still being able to be fed spiritually ourselves. Thank you, Mt. Airy family for letting us do what we gotta do and loving us through it!

Ellie got to witness two beautiful outdoor baptisms which was incredible. I always love the faces of the people as they raise from death to life in eternity with Jesus through the water baptism. You can see the joy of Jesus and His Spirit overwhelm them as they have chosen to have a relationship like no other with the one true Savior!

Ellie wore a beautiful dress her Nana and Papa Rollie picked out for her at Christmas. Blue satin bodice with a matching bow at the waist line. The skirt was tulle over white satin and covered with blue, silver, and white glittery dots. She loved playing with that skirt!

After church, we went to Mimi and G-Daddy's house for a good home cooked Easter dinner with my two grandmothers and cousin, Johnny. Ellie ate tomato, green beans, cantaloupe, yogurt, and cheese. She played, and took a nap in my old bedroom. A special and wonderful day!

Heart Surgery - Update 2

Time truly is an odd thing. Our time on Earth is short, even if we manage to live 100+ years. We can hardly fathom eternity and the length...
