Van Gogh - The Immersive Experience

The last term of 3K Ellie studied Vincent Van Gogh. And like all homeschoolers, we love hands on real life experience field trips as often as we can get them because that is when learning comes to life and sticks! My sister and I took our kids to Atlanta to see "Van Gogh - The Immersive Experience." Y'all, it was incredible! I'm so happy we had the privilege to attend! We got to see his famous paintings come to life, read about his life, his struggles, his artistic drive and transformation in art. It was big, real, and truly immersive. Ellie would name the pieces she could recall with sheer excitement! When we entered the room in which we were deeply immersed all around us completely in moving, changing, dancing, lively Van Gogh works of art and beautiful classic composer symphonies, we took a seat in a corner and took it all in. I really have no words to describe other than it really felt out of this world, emotional, and beautiful. You got a real sense of who he was and his pain, struggles, and his mind: both the dark and the beautiful. The colors...such bright colors for one who's mind was so dark...he actually could not see colors very well and his imperfection and struggles are what gave him such success...after his life had passed of course as he only ever sold one of his beaucoup of paintings. I always have thought this since a child but more so now...if only Vincent could see with his own eyes and feel with his heart how loved and valued he is - how beautiful his work is - how influential his pieces are in the lives of many. I can only imagine that maybe he would be moved to tears and a smile creep across his face.

If you ever have the opportunity to go - seize the moment! take the whole family!

Here are some photos though they do absolutely no justice for the experience.

Time truly is an odd thing. Our time on Earth is short, even if we manage to live 100+ years. We can hardly fathom eternity and the length...
