Homeschool Week 3 - 3K

This week was another adventurous one! We actually started each morning slow together reading the Bible, studying scripture and memory verses, having breakfast in our rocking chairs, and watching leaves fall. Every afternoon and evening we explored, built, played, and created.

We did our first BFIAR book of the school year. I chose to read "My Blue Boat" with Ellie this week and plan many fun things to go along with our book. For the specifics on this, you can read HERE. Otherwise, I'll just share the pictures from all of those activities since I blog those separately for the groups that follow the same curriculum. By the way - HIGHLY recommend BFIAR & FIAR for your young homeschooler. So here are some photos from those adventures:

The rest of the week we also had a lot of other adventures! We read so many books!

We made apple cobbler all healthy and gluten free and such and it was so so so delicious!! We love baking together!

Then, Ellie crafted by painting her name in large cardboard letters. We got these at Hobby Lobby. She used paint and glitter to decorate them. We learn letters phonetically and when Ellie is 4 (next year) we will do the curriculum, "Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons." Link HERE, for those interested. My sister taught all 4 of her children this way and they have all been reading chapter books well above age average since the age of 4. So please don't sing the ABC song or teach my child her letters if you are around her! Haha! This works so so so well and we love it. Ellie knows her name when she sees it and says, "Eh - Luh- Luh- Ii- Eh." She also knows my name when she sees it and a few other things. It freaked me out when I first learned about this method and now I could not imagine teaching my child and preparing her for reading by any other means. Also, decorating her very special name just enhanced her knowledge through play and exploration! Y'all gotta try this!

We made a pendulum and built towers to knock over. Had to bring in the engineer husband for this one!

We made a Chihuly art sculpture with permanent ink pens and shrinky dink paper. So fun! So cool! I've never done this before! Great addition to our artist study of Dale Chihuly.

We ended our week with forest school before we went camping for the weekend in Georgia. We just studied the Autumn season, leaves, why they change, collected leaves, read books, played in the creek, and hiked.

Heart Surgery - Update 2

Time truly is an odd thing. Our time on Earth is short, even if we manage to live 100+ years. We can hardly fathom eternity and the length...
