Panther Creek Falls Trail Guide

My sister asked me to meet her in GA for a hike to a new waterfall and y'all know I said "Yes!"

Panther Creek Falls is a 7 mile total hike (3.5 in, 3.5 out) out and back.

Located in Clarkesville, GA, this trail is about 1 hour and 15 minutes from Easley, SC. And well beyond worth this short drive!

If you simply type "Panther Creek Falls Trailhead" into your google maps gps, you will go straight there.

Parking is on the side of the road with ample space. The trail literally starts just off the side of a bridge over Panther creek just off the road.  Here are photos below of what you will see upon arrival, parking, and approaching the very start of the trail.

Pack plenty of water and snacks, a change of clothes if you plan to swim, swim gear.

This trail is one that you may camp primitively on in many different excellent spots all by the water. Along the trail and by the falls them selves, a hiker/backpacker has several camping options.

I rate this trail as Moderate due to distance and many tree roots, elevation changes, and a few simple technical aspects. Not stroller friendly, trail is open only to foot traffic, and would be difficult for those with bad joints.

At the same time, Ellie, my 3 year old, seasoned hiker, hiked the great majority barefooted, and completed the entire 7 miles completely solo.

The trail follows a large, wide, rushing, beautiful river the entire way. The trail is incredibly well marked and I believe it would be very hard to get lost here. There are so many kinds of wildflowers, wildlife, views, and new things at every turn that the hike is truly more than just a path to a waterfall. The hike should be enjoyed as well as the end goal.

What was incredible about the falls is that they take your breath away. They rest on a wide open beach and a large swimming hole and many rocks to climb. There is also a tree swing to hold with hands (not sit on) by the falls.

Kids will enjoy swimming, climbing, swinging, playing in sand, sunbathing, and finding creatures.

There are a few wooden foot bridges over the river to cross that are easy and beautiful.

This hike is a good all day trail with the family as you can start early, enjoy the falls and beach all day, and head back later but not get home too late.

Check it out. I don't even have to really give many instructions as it is really just that well marked and self explanatory the moment you arrive. Have fun!

Heart Surgery - Update 2

Time truly is an odd thing. Our time on Earth is short, even if we manage to live 100+ years. We can hardly fathom eternity and the length...
