Trahlyta Falls Trail - Blairsville, GA

Only two hours from Easley, SC: Address: 405 Vogel State Park Road, Blairsville, GA 30512.

Parking: You will see a beautiful lake in the state park almost immediately after you enter the park. You will go all the way around the lake driving in your car, as far as you can, and park at the lake.

Then, you will walk a short distance further down the bank of the trailhead whose sign cannot be missed.

Also....the only unfortunate note...there is a very small water treatment facility for the campground tucked away at a corner just before the trail begins. It is what it is. Pay it no mind you will soon be past it. Heck, it could even be a laugh! It was for all of my family. Be thankful it doesn't stink! Haha! My sister, who has all the academic smarts of the world yet lacks most common sense declared it to be a fish hatchery! 😂😂😂 No, no. It is most certainly not! Ha! Anyway - the trail is very short and very easy. Let's get into it.

Distance of trail: 1.1 mile round trip (this includes the walk from the car and back).

Difficulty: Easy

What to expect: Its a descent in to the falls and you walk right up to them down a few short steps to a lookout. The lookout post leads you to feel that you could just reach out and touch the falls. Should you decide you want a more full length view and a bit of a pic-nic spot and a spot for a little dip, Just before arriving on to the lookout deck, with it right in front of you, to your left, there is a very steep but short descent down to the bottom of the falls where there is plentiful space to sit, swim, explore. We explored that after going on the lookout deck.

Above: The walk along the lake bank to the trailhead. Short walk and very scenic.

If you are traveling out to Blairsville and to the gorgeous Vogel State Park, as the hike is quite short, note these other activities:

*Kayak in the lake (Rent or bring your own)

*Swim in the lake from the beach access

*Walk around the lake

*Playground for kids

*Beautiful scenic views of Blood Mountain

This is a great day trip for an easy hike, a day of pic-nic, swimming, kayaking, walking, and resting with family.

This is also an excellent location for fall foliage. There are other hiking trails within the state park you may check out, longer, however; so dealer's choice for what all you hope to get into. I did all with my family over the course of a weekend camping in the state park. One of our favorite camping spots.

Enjoy this treasure!

Time truly is an odd thing. Our time on Earth is short, even if we manage to live 100+ years. We can hardly fathom eternity and the length...
